I tried to get my local leaner club to let me come to their big dance Oct. 16 & 17. They said, "maybe next year", and allowed that it would be okay to come out and sail around with them but that I couldn't enter.

That Saturday will be a distance race in the Gulf (probably less than 40 miles)and bouys on Sunday. So I guess I'll got out and "sail around",(if I feel I can manager a whole 40 miles in one day).

If any one wants to come down and "sail around" let me know. I'd prefer crew in open water, but if you want to bring your boat, that's okay too. Access is a pita, but it's doable.

Oh! They did invite me to come pull strings for them. Nice folks.

Pete,

From what experience I've had - the leaners might look at you as potential crew for their fleet and be excluding your single-hander because of that. I know that in places past, I've heard that this was the case. Plus - past smackdowns put on the leaners by high performance cats in buoys lead to them not being included in the regular weekly series.

I think that weekend is the same as Hirams btw.

They have a multi-hull fleet which sails phrf. It's just not my thing.

Thing is: I HAVE A PHRIKIN WORLD CLASSS VENUE RIGHT IN MY OWN BACKYARD AND NO BODY TO SAIL WITH!!! PLUS I HAVE TO JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO SAIL AT ALL!!!!#@*"

Sometimes that gets to me.

I feel you pain Pete, nice big lake made for sailing right in my back yard and no sailboats are ever out, just the Jet Ski's (sounds like 2 chain saw's hump'n) all day, every weekend.

In your location I might be tempted to buy a leaner and go play with them. You are never going to convince a bunch of reitred fat old men to get a boat where they might;
1. have to work
2. might get wet

They are content to cruise around at 4-5kts while swilling rummies, not that there's anything wrong with that. It's like Golf, with a better view and without the expensive sticks.

You gonna be around that weekend? I need crew and I think there is a F28 that needs crew. Lemme know.

I won't know my Oct. schedule until about Sept. 15, and I'm also trying to be off for Wildcat on 1-3 Oct. and a Delta 25yr. class reunion on Oct. 23-24 so it might be a "tight fit" to put another -thing- into Oct.

If I can make it, I would prefer to be sailing my own Blade against you, or maybe crew on the F28 but only if it's blowing, which it never is...drifting sucks.

Timbo, you better squeeze another thing into October.

Don't tell us you are going to bail again!

You make a big presentation all year on doing distance and now the single best event to do as a newbie comes up and you wuss again. shocked

There are no difficult logistics, its an easy sail and the place is right up Debbie's alley so you do not have to even sell that.

This is a public forum. If you only wanted Matt to see that and respond, you should have used the PM feature.

OK Game on - lets add up the number of miles we have each traveled over the years.

And I running this with 2 kids complete with their own issues and activities. You take my kids for a while and see how far out of your back yard you make it wink

I'm more interested in why you guys think you can kick me around-and then get a pass.

I asked if anyone wanted to come down here and sail with me. If you don't want to fine! But the last time I checked, I was in charge of my own affairs. I'll come and go as I please. And I don't owe any explanations to anyone.

I was on my way out to breakfast. Don't you guys have some work to do?

Can I trade you my two kids for yours Matt? I need a kid who's not affraid to pitchpole once in a while!

But there may be some hope, Tom took the H14 out and flippeed it yesterday...and then he was able to right it too! And then my 14yr. old daughter took her 'BFF' out on the H14 too, but they didn't stay out very long, "It's getting too windy out there dad..." Bah! But one of her other friends did sail with me on the Blade for an hour, her first time on a sailboat and I had her driving from out on the wire, she loved it!

I heard you got hooked up with Ethan for Eustis.

That will be cool. He is racing waves with us on Fridays. kid is getting good, is fearless and enthusiastic. Plus he is like 145 lbs, strong and fast.
