To go along with my new finished bottom, I need some beach wheels. Oh course, I think paying 500$ for a set is completly ridiculous, seeing as though I have TIG welder in my garage, I think I could build some.
Has anyone done this before?
Any plans out there?

Biggest question is, where do I find wheels/tires that big. I've tried Grainer and McMaster-Carr, but no dice....
My boat is 8'6", other thing I was thinking of doing is getting some wheels from a narrower boat, and then sleeving them to make'm fit mine!

Any ideas?

Hi TheoA

I saw your post about making your own dolly and thought that you might be interested in our prices on the EuroTrax. These are $349-00 and include cradles. See them at www.playaboule.com.

Also as a matter of interest you might want to break down the "real" cost in making a dolly.

Aluminum tubing at $25-$32 a foot. x 8 ft = $200
Tires 21"x12" slick $45 to $62 = $ 90
Rims to suit $25 - $75 = $100
Bearings, collars, pins, bolts, etc?? = $ 65
Cradles $60 to $75 each = $120
Stainless Axles to suit standard rims = $ 60

Of course you can get cheaper painted steel components but then corrosion will be a problem.

Hope this helps.

Regards
