Ok so the A-cats, new F-20c , AC-45 and AC72 will all be using curved boards. Is this where the class will be going to stay on the upper end of the speed scale?

How long before they begin to start voting on it?
I'm just looking for thoughts here.

Won't happen. Also the AC45 has straight boards photos of the ali moulds being made here

curved boards have to be asymmetrical to work

A lot of the curved boards used on the A's are built with symmetrical cross sections. It would be very hard however to define a plane of symmetry other than the one that cut the boat into two short pieces. The F18 class has shown in the past that it is more concerned with level performance and cost effectiveness than being the fastest class on the water so there is no way they would ever allow curved boards.

I would expect that should the F18 tech committee look at curved boards and vote it in, there would be a long lead in... say 2years. Firstly this would allow manufactures to ensure they can complete all their R & D, and secondly it wouldn't out date boats over night...

But just as scarecrow said, "The F18 class has shown in the past that it is more concerned with level performance and cost effectiveness than being the fastest class on the water" i doubt you will see this go much past a general discussion.

It's not a decision made by the manufacturers it's a decision made by the class.

I'm torn. Buy a C2, or pickup a saw that's about $25k and will make me money that I can then buy a C2 with.

are you insinuating that I should butt out Dave?

I'm boatless.

Nope! You're welcome to butt in as much as you'd like.

You indicated you were thinking about picking up a C2 when we spoke at Racine I was just curious.
