Finally have all the parts, rigging and the whole system organized and priced.
Hooter Sail is $495 (about 85 Sq Ft., Normal Wave Main is 98.5 sq ft -- almost double the power)
(Optional Blade Jib) is $199
The Hooter Furling and the all the rigging is 1052.89,
Total for a Super Wave is $1547.89
However, we also strongly urge you to order the Hobie Spreader Bar Kit (optional on our site) for $116.75
Now you can be faster than a Hobie 16

Just wanted to add that one can now get a turbo kit for the H16. Square top main and Trumpet spinnaker system. I assure you a Wave will not be keeping up with a H16 set up this way, I know because cats I use to not be able to keep up with I am now passing.

I will add I do own a Wave now and is great fun and sure would be fun to have the Super Wave Kit and kick the wave snobs butt on my wave.

The only pix I have are at the following URL:

The differences in the prototype and the final is the improvement in hardware. We are using Harken Ratchamatics for the Hooters sheeting, Spinlock for the halyard, and some other stuff like that. The pole is not just an old remnant glass pole, but good quality aluminum.

Rick,

I started sailing for the first time on my Club Wave this Spring. I live on Lake Conroe, TX and have been having a great time. I've read about your clinic at the nationals and can't make it this year. Which tapes and or books would you recommend to someone with no prior sailing experience. I'm anxious to perfect my sailing skills. I know you are hot on the super wave kit. Does it come with complete instructions for both installing and sailing or, is there something additional you would recommend. My wife and I really enjoy the Wave and think we would enjoy even greater speed too. Her dad used to run drag boats but we prefer the lower noise level and the lower cost of fuel.

Sincerely, Pete

Glad to hear you are having a blast with the Wave. I love the boat for its simplicity.., heh? and then I go and add a Hooter. Go Figure!
The best book for overall cat sailing is "Catamaran Racing: For the 90s"
As for the videos "Total Boat Handling" is the video that covers almost everything a little bit. If you were to disect sailing into parts, the other four videos concentrate on those factions of sailing/racing and are much more specialized and intense.
So, for starters the TBH video would be the best.
Good luck,
Rick

Rick

Do you recommend / need a trap kit to go along with this? Have a wave but never used a trap and thought that this would be a good way to get started. Would like to have my kids learn how as well.

I still have some time before we start to sail, still ice fishing on our lake.

Yes, a trapeze would be a great idea.
I don't have a kit yet available, but can pretty quickly. Let me know/
