Posts: 5 Adelaide, South Australia | Hi everyone I am looking to buy a Sloop Rigged Mozzie with trailer (Adelaide area). Most interested in one that has been raced before, or is at least rigged for racing, has a trailer and preferably glass hulls. Although I am based in Adelaide I am willing to travel for the right boat. I have been away from the sailing scene for around 8 years now and am mad keen on getting back on the water (used to sail Corsair and Hobie 16 classes competitively). The Mosquito class looks very appealing with its ability to be sailed 1 or 2 up in a sloop rig (have to keep the missus happy!) and seems to have quite a good following in the competitive races. If you know of anything around the traps, either in the Adelaide or Melbourne areas, please drop me a line -Spence- | | | Re: Looking to Buy a Mozzie (Adelaide)

Posts: 432 McCrae Y.C. Mornington Peninsu... | Hi Spence, Welcome to the forum. Probably not the time of the year to be looking... everyone is out sailing them Good 2nd hand glass boats do pop up occasionally but are generally sold quite quickly. Keep an eye on the association web sites VMCA for Vic, (there is a link to the SA one on it if you haven't found it already) Make yourself known to the SA association. Also, watch ebay and the trading post. Nothing wrong with a PLY boat if you're up to the mantainance. There are some good competitive ones around. I had a ply boat until recently which I bought to get back into sailing after a long break. Had it for 4 seasons or so before upgrading to a new glass boat. It proved to be quite an inexpensive way to get back on the water when averaged over the 4 years. (though I did pick up some wood working skills I never thought I'd need!) Cheers
