Only 13 entries received so far for the Portarlington Nationals.

December 1st is the cut off date for entering and paying the entry fee to avoid the $15 late fee. Don't miss out.

Hi Tim,

thanks for the reminder.

You just have date of birth for juniors, don't you need it for veterans division as well, after all can't just go by lack of hair or greyness wink , some of us might not be picked as over 50 whistle. Then again some might be picked as over 50 and there not cry.

Good point.

Maybe the DoB in the entry form should be optional - for those who would like to be in the race for the old farts trophy.

Well it's pretty much the usual crowd with few surprises. Those that usually go and are not entered yet will probably enter on the day.

The only ones I know can't make it are Simon Clavin and Peter Lyons.

Any Somers people coming other than you?

Thanks for the public "naming and shaming" Tim cry

It's an absolute disgrace that I'm not coming and frankly, we should both receive a "summary execution at dawn" to improve our attitudes!!!

Having said that, I hereby grant a Presidential Pardon to myself. If anyone else needs one, I'm adopting the FIFA approach to securing my mercy. wink All major credit cards accepted.

Good luck to everyone going..wish I was. frown

Ah well, it was all in the name of efficiency. It would have taken me a lot longer to type the names of all those that ARE going.

We could learn a lot from Fifa. Imagine a club putting in a $25M bid to hold our Titles!

I went for a ride over to Portarlington last week via great ocean rode to check the place out. The club has a strip of sandy beach in front with lots of room for launching and plenty of grassed area either side for rigging. There is a fenced area around the club that the locals store their boats in, we would be able to get the fleet in there if they took most of the local boats out. Water looks flat, as expected, so it will just be the Port Philip chop to contend with.

Portarlington itself has a couple of pubs, takeaways and an IGA supermarket all on Newcombe street. The place I have booked is about as far from the club as you can get and still be in Portarlington and its only 2.5km from the club.

From Adelaide is an easy 9 hour drive via Ballarat.

Looks like a great place for the Nationals and I am really looking forward to checking out how fast the Victorians are sailing after all the recent coaching and close competition.

cheers,
Darryn

The club's intention is to fit all the boats in the fenced compound, if possible, and have the trailers in a separate area that will be closed off to cars but not the public.

Where are the Vic campers staying? Dylene CP on powered sites or elsewhere? Bellarine Bayside Holiday Park?

Tortured ply is clearly beautiful.

Well done Darryn, I also rode from Adelaide to Geelong via GOR back in 1970 but it took me 1 week. You must have been pedalling very fast to do it in 9 hours.

Bellarine Bayside for me, about 250m from the club I was told cool. Hope we don't get any Northerlies though eek , will blow straight into the campsite, nothing but beach in front I believe.

Few other Vics in same park I believe, but you had to be quick. Which reminds me, have to pay balance of cost soon :(, double wammy expensive and have to pay full amount before you even turn up cry .

Hi All,
Due to Saturdays woolly weather no -one sailed anywhere in Adelaide, so it wasn't really surprising to have 7 mk1 mossies on the beach at Normanville Sunday. Getting some on water time prior to the Nats, last count there should be 12 boats from SA going to Port Arlington,
Cheers,
Roy,

All,

I wish you all the very best of luck and perfect sailing conditions. I am very envious as I will not be there.

OK, we are all booked in and paid for (late I know!) blush

Where is everyone staying? We are on Boat Road Section G. Unfortunately we cant get until the 3rd though so I wont be entering the invitation race in favour of setting up tents shocked
