Sorry Trevor. I don't know where anyone's staying. I'm in a house - Fenwick Street.

We have 29 pre-entered!

It has been gusty with lots of frequent shifts. Very testing. Only one really light race. The others have been all over the place.

Hey Jeff,

Adding the numbers looks like a Vic boat leading the Cats smile

The sloops however looks very SA.

Thanks for the update Tim.... 34 boats in total! What a great turnout.

Cheers

Two more races today. Light this morning (no trapezing), and just enough for the cats to trapeze this afternoon (lovely!). Much less shifty and gusty than Tuesday. There is one drop to count now, so it looks like Warwick has the sloops sewn up with no need to sail the last race.

One more race to sail and the forecast for tomorrow is windy!

Cats
1. G Maskiell 1,1,11,1,5,1,1
2. D. Kopp 3,3,2,5,3,2,9
3. B Wilson 2,7,10,3,1,4,2
4. M Stone 4,5,12,2,2,6,5
5. T Shepperd 8,2,8,4,10,3,3
6. R Bennett 5,10,6,8,6,8,6
7. P Mann 6,8,13,7,7,11,4
8. P Pearce 7,11,3,6,9,7,13

Sloops
1. W Kemp 1,4,1,1,4,1,1
2. M Floyd 3,1,2,2,5,2,3
3. N Joiner 2,3,5,4,1,3,5
4. S Hallsworth 4,2,4,3,3,4,2
5. N Baglioni 10,7,9,5,2,7,4
6. P Warren-Smith 5,6,6,6,6,6,8

The final race was won by Simon Hallsworth in the sloops and myself in the cats. Gary Maskiell finished 2nd, giving him the mk1 title overall. After all the promise of 20 knots it turned out to be another semi-trapezing race after all - in a large slop left over from the 20 knots that had been there before we launched!

Hi all,

got back yesterday, what a great regatta grin . Easy for me to be happy I guess, but I was totally impressed with the big fleet and general attitude of the sailors. Very competitive, but friendly at the same time, a combination that is not found in all classes smile.

After winning last years Nats with out Darren and Bob attending frown , I was doubly keen to win this one crazy . Just happy that new centreboards, rudders and further tuning made it possible whistle .

Would like to thank Bob and Darren in particular for the spirit in which we raced, when wins come down to margins of 2 seconds, Port-Starboards on the finish line and OCS disqualifications after finishing races, things can get tense crazy , but the friendliness prevailed cool.

Also a big thanks to Tim, Neil, Peter, Mitch and Nick. The GLYC fleet, that I have the luck to compete with every week smile , without the quality of competition at home and the ready sharing of information on techniques and tuning it would be far more difficult to be on the pace when it comes to competing elsewhere blush .

Finally thanks to every one of the 34 competitors that made the effort to participate, you made the 2010-11 Nats the success they where and the Portarlington Y.C. for being a willing host at short notice.

Anybody that didn't make the Nat's, put the Vic States in your diary now, or you will be kicking yourself again mad, for missing out on yet another great Mossie event. Look forward to seeing you all in Paynesville come the Labour Day Weekend, 12-14th March, hope we can make it as good as the Nats wink .

You weren't too steady - and I don't think it was the sheer weight of the trophy that was to blame !

Hi Tim,

was wondering when they would pop up wink.

I guess no big surprise, as winds where generaly under 15 knots I think frown and I think it is fair to say that cat rigs clearly have the upper hand in 8-12 knots? cool

I think one of the interesting points is that there where 4 Sloops in the first 10, with 23 Cats and 11 Sloop rigs this would seem to go against the theory that bigger fleets result in a higher standard of sailing, as I would have expected less than 4 in the first 10 based on percentage of the fleet and conditions that suited Cat rigs. confused

Mind you I could be mischevious and say that I know 2 of the 4 Sloops have honed there skills in the Cat rigs grin , Mick and Neil have both been runners up in Cat rig Nats and Cat rig State champions wink .
