never sailed in a true drysuit before and was wondering what people would wear under one for something like tradewinds this weekend. I don't want to have to check any bags for the flight so was hoping to keep things to a minimum.

You want something insulating, but not bulky. You also want something that will wick the perspiration away.

I wear one or two layers of Patagonia polypropylene underwear under mine. I also have a Magic Marine one piece fleece suit when it gets really cold.

birthday suit. be careful with the zipper - it's a duzy.

I used to wear my high school uniform:) back in the day we would knock off school walk across the road and go windsurfing.

Isn't Tradewinds in Key Largo? And you are going to wear a drysuit!?! LOL when I did steelechase everyone couldn't believe we only wore shorts and rash guards, but it felt great compared to the 48 degree water we sail in year round!

I was once told to dress under the drysuit in the fashion that would keep you warm on shore. That rule of thumb worked back when I used to wear a drysuit. Definitely wicking and layers. It's only supposed to be in the 60s this weekend here so northerners should find it balmy.

Simple base layer.

Depends on the weather ... I usually just have shorts and a T-shirt under my drysuit ... unless the weather is really cold (ie <50 degrees) and then I'll go to the base layer that was posted by BLR.

I usually only wear one wicking under layer. A dry suit with nothing under it will kill you when you fall into the water (due to its enormous thermal conductivity). In that case its much safer to wear a wetsuit.

When it gets down to around 10-15 degrees celcius (50-60F) I usually pop on a moderately tight fleece sweater (too loose and the inevitable folds get in the way).

PS: there's lots of dry-suit weather here in the Netherlands...

uh, the highs for the weekend will be in the mid-upper 70s, so I presume the day will be in the mid 60's. You need a drysuit for that?
