Hi All,
I can confirm that the next years nats have been confirmed for Rivoli Bay Sailing Club - South End. Dates are 2nd - 7th Jan.
The Sailing club is chasing up with the caravan park for use of the camping grounds adjacent to the club (council run through the caravan park) but should be available.

Will post more info as we get it.

Cheers,
Simon

I'm a regular visitor there, it's at the Southern end of Rivolli Bay on the Northern end is Beachport, the club rooms are impressive, non sailors can sit on the balcony of the two story clubrooms at the top of the small cliff and get a perfect view, this photo was taken off the balcony during a race and thats Beachport in the back ground, the people are all friendly, if the weathers rough they set a course close to shore

Looks beautiful, just got directions from Google maps.

2082 km and google says 1 day 1 hour, may get a few tickets doing it in that time frame.

Not sure if the Delica can go that fast......

Could be a starter though as the timing works, will see later in year.

From memory, the club is at the red X, and the sand-dune camping is at the green X. I think we had to drag the boats up the road to the camping area at the end of each day.

Lynnies and the Tourist park are the only accommodation I can find.

From Lynnies to the club is about 200m.

I've sailed there a lot in the last couple of years and never had to raise the boards for any seaweed at all. I don't think kelp could grow there but after a big storm it could potentially wash in from out to sea. Maybe in winter or late April it could be an issue. The red X does mark the spot. Book early for Lynnies just a stagger to your room or tent, not that the caravan park is that far. If you want luxury accomodation theres some nice rooms in Beachport just a bit of a drive each day.

Hi Everyone, I'm a member of Rivoli Bay SC and am happy to answer any questions about the 2012 National Titles.
Thank you Simon and the Mosquito Association for the opportunity to host the titles.
As far as kelp/seaweed, it is very rare to see any floating around in the bay where we sail. In saying that, this year has been very different in weather and have got a little blow in. But in saying that, in a race you might only have to dodge one or two pieces.
We have a Tasar regatta being held this coming weekend and if I get time I'll go down to the 2 accomodation places and inform them of what is going to hit them in Jan 2012. Lynnies have always helped us out and if you get in early they may hold the place exclusive for the Mosquito's. If we have the grassed area on the North side of the raod for boats then you could also camp there, but there is no toilets or showers there you would have to walk to the club house for that, roughly 150-200 metres.
I will be checking this forum from time to time or send us an email on rivolibaysc@gmail.com for any enquiries.

Hi Evan,

thanks for the reply, only brought up the kelp as it was mentioned after last Nats held at your club, I was not there to see what it was like. Sounds like should be OK.

This Lynnies, sounds interesting, allways good fun if you can get most of the fleet staying in the one place like we did at Mannering Park last year. Where would we keep boats if we stay at Lynnies?

Hi Gary,
Lynnies has only a few cabins and a bunkhouse. They also have a camping ground. It's not real big so would easily book out. The boats could be kept on the grassed area north of the club and I'm sure there would be some people camping there also which would stop any unwanted visitors, not that we would have too many being a very small country town.

A lot of us camped in that area north of the club last time and would probably want to do so again, so is there someone we need to contact about that to book it?

I would definitely want to camp there again if possible.

I will speak to the caravan park and find out availability and cost. Hopefully we can book it for the week exclusively.
We have a regatta on this weekend so hopefully will have a chance to pop in a talk to them.

Hi all,

have been doing some investigation. Lynnies only have 5 camp sites left and Neil said it can be very hot as it is well sheltered.

So I have decided to follow Peter N to the beach, he has a onsite van at Southend Caravan Park and I have booked powered sites for myself and Joiners. "Cost is $28.00 p/n for 2/p extras cost $7.00 each they are aprox 400 mtres to club".

This is the info the park sent me re sites closest to club, "are unpowered and cost $22.00 p/n for 2/p and extras cost $7.00 each p/n they are 100 mtres to club. you will need to book by april and have your deposit in by sept 30th this year as it is very busy at that time", I believe there are no close amenities either.

I just spoke to Lynnies, and yes there are only a few powered sites left. There are also beds in the bunkhouse and some cabins left.
We are looking at holding the Presentation dinner there in the function room which has an ajoining kitchen and more room than the clubhouse if there are a good number of people coming.
It being a coastal town it cools off at night and is usually 8-10 degrees cooler than Mount Gambier on a hot day.
The boats will be parked within 120 metres from Lynnies and 50 metres north of the club. You can camp next to your boat by booking through the main council caravan park, but there are no amenities there you will have to use the clubhouse.
Get your booking in quick as this is the busy time of the year.

Any chance you could provide the contact details for the camp ground near the club, I would like to come to Nats and will book now while still working out the logistics.

Tried to google it but came up with little.

Cheers,
