I want to replace my N5.0 for something bigger (and newer, but still on the cheap side..),I was thinking N5.7 should be about the biggest option I should consider, but this N5.8 seems a good deal, what do you think?. I'm 85 kg (187 lbs)and my crew is not really heavy (wife and daughters, usually only one of them, sometimes just me).

Also, do you see anything I should be concerned of, or anything good, on the boat of the pictures?
Thanks!

What year is it? How many US dollars? Why won't the main hook all the way at the top of the mast?

I used to race against this boat 8 or so times a year when it was in Northern California.

It has a nice Pentex Eliot-Pattison square top and matching jib (original size, not the larger NA Jib). It also had a spin, but I'm not sure if that made it to Chile. It was a solid boat, not pristine but structurally sound. The owner sold it because he moved up to an Inter 20. It is foam-core, which is something to look for in a 5.8.

I typically raced at 320-330 lbs crew weight, another boat was usually closer to 300 lbs. Plenty of people have single-handed them.

That's cool, when was that? Do you have a rough idea of what year could it be? ( the current owner hasn't answered my questions yet)
Thanks

I'm pretty sure the year of manufacture was 1988. It's probably one of the first foam-core 5.8s built. I think the sails are four years old. It was raced seriously up until last year and well fitted-out.

It got sold a few months ago. The story is that a fellow came through the area and bought a bunch of used boats and filled up a container to send to Chile.

Here's some pictures of it:

Sounds like the work of Pete B...Rhino do you know?
If so, Pete's an "older" fella and not much on the intraweb stuff.
Best to call him on the land line.

Great information, thanks a lot. The boat is offered at US 6.5K with trailer and I assume the wheels. To compare to US market I guess there is a factor of .8 or so.

That it seems a bit expensive to me. Not sure about the Chilean market, though, so you would know better

Yes, the hull number ends with 87 and it's age was a bit more evident than I thought. The sails are nice but I was looking to "renew" mine, so it didn't meet the objective.
Thanks for the help. Now I'm looking at a P18.2 deal, but I'll take a look at it first..
