Posts: 976 France | The NOR and registration form are online. The organization recommends to book accommodation early as this is a busy period in a touristy area. | | | Re: F16 world registration open

Typo due to a cut and paste, already signaled, it's going to be fixed soon. And yes, there is a French F16 Assoc. 3.4 All competitors shall have personal floatation in accordance with RSS1.2. Personal floatation shall be of a suitable size and certified by an international recognized authority board in writing by the MNA of the competitor. In writing by the MNA.. I never saw such a document. A US competitor could use a coastguard approved flotation device if he wants to. That's all this means. The US MNA requires USCG approved floatation devices. 12 RADIO COMMUNICATION A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications or GSM not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
No mobile phones on the water? You can have a mobile phone, you just can't use it while racing. Fairly common restriction, I've seen this language used in the UK, France and Italy. 14 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the Global F16 challenge entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, "Decision to race". The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the event. Worlds or Global Challenge? Who cares 15 INSURANCE Each competitor needs to take out valid third party liability insurance with a minimum covert of € 1,000,000 per event, for the entire duration of theevent. It shall be the sole and inescapable responsibility of the competitor to have such an insurance cover and to provide written proof thereof the Organizing Authority upon request. Last time I bough insurance we were covered up to EUR400.000,- If you don't have insurance up to such an amount you can get a french sailing federation temporary sailing license that will cover your liability up to that amount. Any sailing club in france can sell you that for relatively cheap. My UK insurance cover me up to 2M£ so I'm surprised by the low value of your liability. | | | Re: F16 world registration open

Posts: 186 Chattanooga, TN | Wow you guys carry a million in insurance? That is incredible. I feel like I am extreme and I think mine here in the US is only about 300,000. Why are you all required to carry so much insurance?

Why are you all required to carry so much insurance? I carry £2M in insurance, aka $3.25M. One order of magnitude more than you. The reason why it is so high is that we are, in Europe, all members of sailing clubs. The sailing clubs are insured, but to protect themselves the club insurers do require big liability policies from all the member's and visitor's boats. The good news is that accidents are infrequent, so those policies are dirt cheap (£2M liability only insurance for my Nacra is around £40/$65 per year) | | |
