It seems to me the winds, on average, blows faster than they used to when I began sailing years ago. The last five years seem to be especially fast, with harder gusts. Is this my imagination, or are others noticing this, too?

Down here its been blowing for the last couple of months. Usually ends up in the 20-30 mph range. Definitely not normal. March winds didn't stop.

There are 2 reasons for this:

1) The winds change. Last year year in Houston I sailed 2 days where the winds were over 15. This year, it seems 5 out of 7 days, its over 15. Talk to your local weather people, they keep track of things like that.

2) It always fun until you hurt yourself badly or break something you can't afford to replace or just realize, "I could die out here". After that, the wind seems stronger and the seas higher.

We had no March winds, very mild. A little wooly in April.
