I like the race's approach regarding conditions and the decision to race. "it's your decision..."if you want to spare your boat and pocket book, it's not a big deal"..."we're going to have the race, start or not start, it's your decision".

Looks like it's an F18 kind of day, again.

Good luck gentlemen.

note: the tracker showing "Zhik 1" is not Zhik 1 - it's another team that used Zhik's to replace theirs (apparently they lost it yesterday). They show 10 miles up the leg but on the beach.

blog made reference to a rudder casting being changed out and bent rudder arm, and their intention to go back out.

We repaired the board from the break on the first day and were only going to try and keep the break area up in the trunk to not put too much stress on the board. We did start the 3rd leg and made it through the surf then went to put the leeward rudder down and it broke off (the casting broke). Went back to the beach got a repair from our great ground crew David, Chris and Tim and headed back out. The boat was sailing great on a jib reach around 18-22knots with one on the wire. About 25 miles in we heard another bang board broke again we could not get the board to go up or down so sailed the last 35 miles with the board folded under the hull. We made it to the finish only to find out we had taken on a lot of water from a small hole in the back of the dagger board trunk. All has been repaired and we borrowed a board form Zhik 2 to start the final leg tomorrow.

Sounds like Nacra needs to address a few things. Light is great but durable is better.

I'm kinda glad it's over. It was an a$$ kicker. I've never seen so many boats full of water. Mine was half full on day one. Zhik 1 was so full, when you took the inspection port cap off, water was flowing out the top of it! Party time and war stories. Everyone is shaking hands very gingerly or just bumping elbows.

A P19 takes the open class @ GT300 2011, against a ARC22, and F20C's.
Nice job Shannon.

Talk about attrition!

Nice job Lee and David! I20 champs!

Great job to everyone else also, John, Ian, Chris, Clay, Mike, Philippe, Steve, Juke, and anyone I missed, etc.

I'm already planning a campaign for 2012 for the GT300, with Rock Star crew. ;-)

Lee, you should see the size of my right thumb, swollen like a mofo, I have a baseball size bruise on my butt from my jib track end, and a bruised rib...all from separate "experiences". Be back next year? We'll see... smile
