I found another reason to love the Az heat and sunshine!
This weekend I sprayed a new coat of gelcoat on my N20(old girl had a lot of scratches in her) and ended up with a couple of spots that dodnt harden by the next day.
I read somewhere that one could use pledge to coat gelcoat while it cures, so I thought "whats the worst that could happen?" So I sprayed the soft spots with Pledge and rolled the boat into the sun.
The next day the soft spots were still pretty soft. I wouldnt be able to get to sanding or removing the soft gel for a couple weeks so I left the boat in the sun for the past few days, and i'll be damned if the gel isnt hard as a rock now. Temps have been topping out around 100 this week, thats all it took to coax the gelcoat along.
Ive got a lot of sanding ahead to get rid of a lot of orange peel, think Ill leave the orange peel on the bottoms for now. See if the golf ball dimple effect really works.
