Yes it can. But it is not easy to make it nice and smooth. A good rigger can manage it. Personally - I am not that good!

Cheers,
Karl

depends on what splice you want.

Eye splice, no problem

Taper splice to a 12-strand, more difficult, but achievable

What are you looking for?

Can anyone recommend a good reference on splicing? I want to re-rig the front of the boat this year, and there's a fair bit of splicing in this picture. I'm interested not only in typical line slicing but I'd like to making a few line shackles, too, for winter projects.

Bought 2 pieces and was thinking about a end to end splice.

I am a big fan of the Brian/Bryan Toss rigging video's. They also sell a really cool tool that I think is awesome for those of us that are not super savy with splicing tools.

End for end with SwiftCord is possible but the line will be MUCH larger where the splice is, and will have a hard time fitting through even large blocks.

A good enough rigger could reweave it. wink

Just kidding. Ian is a good rigger. I have even ordered things from him.

Even if one re-weaves it it will still be too large to fit through most blocks.

Nevermind that invite for Pac Cup Karl! grin
