This picture is of a dolphin, not a shark.

See http://www.snopes.com/photos/surfer.asp for details.

Another "Urban Legend."

I accidently taped part of a shark show on OLN last year when I was taping America's Cup racing. It had some incredible video of a shark attack. The video showed a surfer in action on a large wave. You could then see a shadow moving along the wave and then this huge shark comes out of the water and knocks the surfer off his board. The 17 year old suffered severe damage to his hand but was otherwise okay. His buddies from shore caught the whole thing. It was pretty incredible.

Pretty cool photo anyway.

3 years ago I was swimming in Miami beach, when suddenly people were shouting get out of the water BIG FISH, BIG FISH.
At first I did not understand what they were shouting so I ignored it until a huge shadow approached us , it was over 10 feet long and looked very dangerous, I can't remember when ever I did swim faster .
Finally at the beach I could see what kind of animal it was.
It was a huge harmless Manatee that scared the living daylight out of me.

I am glad that we sail in shallow water with only small fish only….

In the old TV show "Flipper", the boys were always being saved from Shark attack by Dolphins.

Avila Beach is one of my favorite coastal spots to sail, now closed due to a fatal Great White Shark attack...
