2012 Key Sailing "Hangover but Hang On Regatta"
January 1

Charlie and Joe pulled the fleet around the race track today, and the two high school teams out there on Vipers honestly earned their keep. Here are the deltas. I'll knock out more story when I get the video footage and the photos.

The Rendezvous Fleet consisted of a couple of Hobie Kayak tri something sailors, The Captain and Glenn on Waves, with RZ and Margo in Lasers. There was just too much sun and warm wind for some smile Actually, Bubba's gonna have to earn his 'Turkey Frying merit badge' back from Kirk. Chris wins the "Happiest Sailor Award" despite the sel - inflicted damage.

Sailwave issue -

Can anyone shed light on why the "corrected times" vary so much from the elapsed times re spreads between same - design boats? How can the "corrected" time be 35 mins + and the actual elapsed delta be 20 mins +???

Other than Regatta Network, what other reliable scoring programs are available?

...just trying to get it right...

I recommend doing the math on several of the results by hand - it will give you a better understanding how the ratings work and help you make sure Sailwave is setup properly.

Whether the corrected time is greater or less than the actual time depends on which side of the neutral rating (100) the boat/class is. Boats rated below 100 will see their corrected times increase over actual. Lower ratings see their corrected times differ more greatly from actual (because they are faster, their actual times should be less than the slower boats so they account for their rating). Boats rated at 100 will see their corrected times equal their actual. Boats rated over 100 (typically dingies) will see their corrected times decrease over actual.

I haven't used it - but I've heard some good things about racesail (http://www.racesail.org)

2nd Open 20 1032 PYC Charles Harp John McDonald 59.3 0:37:55 0:36:42 1:01:47 10.0
3rd Open 20 11 PBYC Mark Smith Mike Pedersen 59.3 0:36:05 0:36:32 DNC 12.0
4th Roboat F 16 16 US3 PYC Michael Rice David Beaudry 63 0:37:28 DNF 1:02:42 14.0
5th F 16 16 133 FWYC Joseph Bello Shelby Brown 63 0:38:37 0:37:55 1:06:29 14.0
6th Trident F 16 6 Chris Amador ? 63 0:37:37 0:38:30 1:06:34 14.0
7th NACRA 6.0 172 Mike Clark ? 64.2 0:40:24 0:41:26 DNF 21.0

A keyboard jumped me, but these corrected times are the best numbers I could come up with after seven runs. Jake, your explanation makes sense. I remember Dick Blanchard scoring three races a day (seventy + entries), by hand, during the NAMSA North Americans in the late seventies. Many Thanks!
