Posts: 217 Palm Harbor, FL | I'm finding all kinds of trapeze harnesses on the market, from $40 canvas looking wraps to several hundred dollar body huggers. The only one I have actually tried at this point is the Ronstan Harness (about $160,) but I'm interested in some of the ones that don't have shoulder straps like the Murray's half-harness. So what say you, nappy or not? Shoulder straps or no? Would one of the $40 canvas ones from ebay be okay for occasional crew ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/Trapeze-Hik...mtr&hash=item53eb279816#ht_500wt_922)? I'm hoping to graduate to some 30-40 mile distance racing eventually if that is a factor.

Posts: 1,383 Kingston SE South Australia | Distance racing is a big factor, some 5.7 sailors at our club bought the latest over the shoulder but with nappy to save some weight and a fair bit of money. They reckon it has made them faster sailors because they need to get back on the beach asap to unscrunch the family jewels. My wife and I have Magic Marine Revolution harnesses they have a yoke around the neck so straps don't slide down your shoulder, a spreader bar, covers over the buckles so they dont snag and come undone, leg straps that you can set and step out of we do a bit of 50-70km racing and have never been uncomfortable because of the harness. The downside of them is the cost and added weight.

Posts: 554 Boston, Ma | I use the Banks Pro Skiff. It is a Nappy style with only one buckle on the whole harness. Very light and simple. I don't like lots of straps, too many things to get caught on.
