I was just kidding about ice on Tim's lake. Such an event would probably kill every orange tree in Florida down to its roots. [then maybe we could get away from cheap labor agriculture, but that's another story]

Posts: 217 Palm Harbor, FL | Well, the wind has died down to 10-15mph, and I'm itching to get out there... then I see the thermometer... 38 degrees F... I went ahead and looked up the temp in Antarctica right now... 37F. I don't think my 2mm wetsuit would be enough out there.

Posts: 5,525 | Any pictures from the office window? Here the orange jasmine is blooming, red berries make it look like holly. The mocking birds and bluejays are fighting over it. The mango is loaded with blossom! Bouganvilla is vibrant. White bird of paradise has a few blooms remaining, dracena took quite a hit from the frost a few weeks back, the euphorbia doesn't seem to notice any change in season. I think I'd like to spend some time in snow country if I didn't have to go outside!

Posts: 6,049 Sebring, Florida. | It's supposed to drop into the 40s tonight and I'm in the coastal zone. Tim will likely have ice on his lake! I spent the entire weekend up in New Hampshire, visiting my Mom and 5 siblings. It was my 'baby' brother's 40th birthday yesterday, our 3 sisters were putting on a big party....You know the type, "I'll never drink again!" type big, complete with Patron shots, etc. I went up Friday afternoon, it was 81 in the Orlando parking lot when I got out of my truck Friday. When we got to Boston, about 10pm, it was 40, which for Feb. in Boston, is pretty warm. Yesterday they had some snow flurrys, no accumulation. My youngest daughter was with me, she was only 18mo. old when we moved south and hadn't seen snow since, so she was exceited to see some flakes in the air. Saturday night the cold front came through. This morning, in Hampton, NH, it was... eleven. Yeah, 11F as in 'FK ME IT'S COLD OUTSIDE!!' Oh, and blowing 20. So at 7 this morning, sporting a hangover and needing some 'fresh air', I got dressed and went for a walk around the old neighborhood, just so I would remember why I moved to Florida 15 years ago! After only 15 minutes walking in 11 degree air, with 20 knots of wind chill... no hat, or gloves, (I was smart enough to bring my ski jacket, thank God!) I'd had enough and went in for a couple pots of coffee. But they've had a very mild winter up there this year, no snow on the ground at all this time of year is very unusual. Most of the ponds and rivers I saw, where we played hockey from November into March as kids, were not even completely frozen over. Very strange for early February. I just got home about an hour ago, it was 40 when we landed in MCO at 9pm, and it's about 35 in Sebring right now...cold for Florida, no doubt, but a heck of a lot warmer than Eleven! And no ice on the lake Pete.

Myself I am looking for a good source for monel pop rivets on the internet.. Asking price for those in Norway is just ridicilous. Rolf, check different diameters, more common sizes (4.8 diameter) are as cheap as 0.30 Euro, while same diameter uncommon length can be 3 Euros. Cheers, Klaus | | | Re: weather

You're in the middle of citrus country, any damage?

Posts: 6,049 Sebring, Florida. | No talk of any citrus damage on the local news. I don't think it ever got below 34, bit it was windy so it felt much colder. Warm compared to 11 and windy.
It's already up to 40 over here now.

They're a bitch to get seated well, and not really suitable for high loads I don't think. I just coat everything with Duralac when putting stainless rivets in.
I'm boatless.

Posts: 6,049 Sebring, Florida. | Craig, is your brother still at the same house in Exeter? I drove by my old house just to show my 15yr. old where she first lived (and by Exeter Hosp., her birth place). I didn't see any cars or signs of life at Kevin's, so I didn't get out to see if he was home. I wish I had more time, I would have loved to gone out on that Ice rocket of yours!
