I have some second hand sails. Old Goodall Mylar Jib and Main what sort of condition are you looking for? Do you need battens for the main?

Hi,

you would probably need to mix and match some battens maybe cut some to length but if you don't mind fiddling around you should be able to fit battens, I haven't got battens in the main at the moment so I would have to do the same thing here. It will also be cheaper to send to S.A. without battens, I am in Vic. (lighter and can be folded so could go Australia Post). It has had the window replaced some time ago and I have had the batten pocket/bolt rope sewn up to fix it up and use as a spare but I haven't used it since. It is a radial cut mylar Goodall, where the fastest sails around back in the late 90's early 000's. I am looking for $300. for it.

Jibs, I have a couple of poor condition mylar ones, 1 x Clifton $50, 1 x Goodall (matches mainsail) $50, also 1 x very good condition dacron Goodall (will last for years) $200.

Hi S Horn from Pt Vincent
Saw your boat at the traveller series and I can help/advise you in fitting your existing battens into a 'new' sail, ie you purchase one being offered by Gary. Being in Adelaide I am a tad closer than Vic. Very experienced in batten shaping and fitting. Phone if necessary 0439 824 580

Are you talking about fitting a spinnaker? If so most info is on the Mossie Website here,

yes, I am talking about a spinaker preparing for next season already, the web site does not give me the measurement from the outer sheave to the slot were the tack line exits the pole.
From the photo it looks like it is just in front of the bridle, is there a set measurement?

You're right there's no measurement given for the position where the rope comes out of the pole. It will vary depending on the type and position of the chute mouth, so you need to work it out for your setup.

Having said that, if you have the usual triangular chute mouth fitted on the bridle then right under the chute mouth is usually the spot for it.

Things to consider are:

It's best not to have it forward of the bridle as the back-to-back pulleys can possibly go through the loop supporting the pole when the spinnaker comes down, which could cause a snag when you try to pull it up again.

I have mine set up so that the back to back pulleys run all the way out to the hole in the side of the pole. There's no more tack line left then and they can go no further. At this point the spinnaker tack is tied so that it just goes into the chute mouth. This stops the spinnaker going any further into the chute, and prevents it going out of the back of the sock under the trampoline.
