Gulfport Yacht Club is hosting the US Taipan Nationals on November 8th & 9th, 2003 as well as an A-Class Catamaran Regatta on March 13th & 14th, 2004. There has been a suggestion to possibly open the A-Class Regatta up to the F16HP Uni fleet as well. This idea is still in the early stages and it may not be approved. One big determining factor is whether there is enough interest in the F16HP Uni fleet. I personally don’t want to push to make this event happen and only have 4 F16HP’s show up like the F16HP / F18HT event last year.

So if there is a F16HP Uni regatta in March, who would attend?

Jennifer - I would try and make it then. If I know you needed me there you could count on me.

I would try and be there depending on kids' schedules that weekend.

I'm trying to work the time to make the Eric Barton distance race.

I would try to come too. Hard to commit at this point - but sailing these things with a chute is fun.

Just did the Hirams Haul which was 25 miles down the Indian River and then 25 back up the next day. Super fun race on the Taipan. Mavis had been planning on sailing, but Lucy woke up sick the day of the race, so I sail F16 uni. Lots of fun. The boat can really get in a zone going downwind - when you get the wind angle/wind speed right, she will wild thing like crazy. Incredible speed and you feel like you are running dead down wind.

The week before Hirams we sailed F16 sloop around the buoys with a new Nacra F18, Inter 18, and Hobie Tiger --- pretty much racing boat for boat. You gotta love how flexible and fast the Taipan is!

Well, there appears to be some interest in the F16HP Uni event in March based on the replies posted and those I have received directly. We are going to take the next step and approach the A-Cat fleet to see if they will let us sail with them at their regatta.

I'll keep everyone informed as more information becomes available.
