Hey there,

Does anyone know how old my H14turbo would be with the sail number 49141. I've looked all over the boat and have been back through most of the old postings for ideas, but nothing except the sail number on the rear of both hulls.

Your thoughts please................

Cheers.

Hello,
At the 2003 H14 championships, the sail numbers on the new boats were 52,2**. I would guess your's is also fairly new. I realize these aren't Turbo boats, but I'm guessing the main sail is the same??
Maybe Bob Curry will see your posting and know the answer for you.

My guess is you should contact Hobie Australia for this info. It looks like a different number/lettering system than Hobie USA uses here. I believe sail numbers in the early, early days corresponded with the serial numbers on most boats but in the last 15-20 years this is not the case with folks buying new sails for their boats. My boats are 1985 and 1986 and my current sail number is 52288. I think those years ('85-'86) started with 38s-41s.
Early USA boats, 1968-1974, had a 4 digit number stamped into the front pylons. It was around late 1975-1976 that the serial numbers were scribed in the transoms.

I would say your boat is around '81 to '83. I have a '79 and a '82. The sail #s are 33242 and 39901 respectively. The serial #s are engraved on the transom and some had the serial #s on the lower castings, also engraved.

Speaking of the H14 championships, what did they have 7 boats? I agree with you Bob, NHCRA needs to let us, the sailors decide where the class is headed ,since they destroyed the molds in the US. I guess the 17 and 18 are heade down the same road.
