If anyone is looking for a crew I am willing to come down to Texas for this. 218 lbs and dropping 6'1" Able to crew or skipper but would prefer to crew. Will pay my share of the costs.

Why don't you ship your boat down and skipper it. I can likely find crew for you. Or maybe post on the GT300 FB page and keep on it.

I'm a better crew than Skipper and my crew will be unavailable as she is starting a new job. Don't know if I can take the truck to drive the boat down at that time.
I am posted on the GT300 fb page

You and Karl should talk. If you can ship the boat to Houston, I'll get it to the start line in South Padre with all your gear.

Most likely, I'll be driving there. Depends on the Youth AC and the Transpac as far as my schedule goes. I could potentially drive your truck and boat. Lot's of variables right now though.

I think I have crew lined up. And I'm still not sure I want to. I'll be honest, that first day scares the piss outta me. That's a long ways out. I'd almost be more comfortable doing it singlehanded as I wouldn't have to worry about getting someone else killed should something go wrong.

That, and I'm not sure that Rich is too excited about doing it on a short boat. wink

I'll probably be doing the dash though, and running cameras the other days.

Day two should scare you more than day one...just sayin'. One gets a little wierd out on the rumb line. 22 miles off shore and not seeing land for about 5 hours. Look over at your crew, then at your E-Pirb, then your compass. When you look at your GPS, it's like looking at the clock on the wall on the last day of school, it just seems to move so slow. It's a fun ride though.

Definately not as far out on day 2 but it seems like much more of a ball buster after the 105 miles of day one. You're still tired and not realy wanting to get back on the boat to do another 100 miles.

Yet I still want to do this race.
Come on someone wants to do this race with a crew they can abuse for a week then send home. I may even be able to provide a truck and driver as the ground crew.

I think Todd Bouton up in Wisconsin is wanting to come down to do it again. Rich, you may want to try him. He has an Infusion. He's also done the race many times on a 6.0 and diffent F18's.

Just reach up the beach. Catch the sea breeze and three sail reach as fast as you can

As that cat cartoon character would say 'I resemble that remark'!

Still don't know for sure with funding and time off work.

But yes, I'd LOVE to do the 2013 GT!

Still looking into it.
