I'm planning to atend to the 2004 Hobie Worlds on next May, (though the city where I live is 3000 km from Cancun)and since this is the first event of this kind that I'll be attending to, does any one can tell me besides watching the competition, and drinking a lot of bear, what other kind of sailing-releated activities can one get involved? For instance are there any cats availeble for rent, or borrow?
What a tipical several day event like this would look like?
One more thing, what do they do with the boats they use for the competition after every thing is over? Do they sell them?

The event hotel has lots to do. Most all is included. All the food, drinks, Kayaks, Sailing (Hobie Waves, Sunfish) Snorkleing, Shows, Games, Golf, Tennis... Hobie Cat is bringing a bunch of Hobie Bravos and Kayaks. There are Mayan ruins, Cave diving, Swimming with dolphins... tons to do and see.

The main event will be in a round robin format using the provided 60 Hobie 16s. You are assigned different boats and race numbers. Half the teams are on the water at a time. 56 out racing and 56 tems on the beach. You might have some back to back racing, but always on a different boat. You have to stay close as there is likely 3-5 races a day depending on the wind.

All of the boats are available for sale (to dealers) after the event. Over half are pre-sold to the sponsor dealer already. You would have to contact a dealer to buy one.
