The wave I recently acquired came with new old never used spinnaker. However, the pole is missing.

How Long should the pole be?
What diameter is the pole?
How does it fasten to the cross beam? (There is a 1/4" hole dilled.)
How long and what diameter should the sheet be?

Thank in advance for your help.

Bob,

If it is a Hobie brand spinnaker for the Wave, they have the specs on what you need.

Rick's "super wave" is a totally different animal as is the spinnaker that I and several others have developed.

Ours have anywhere from 8-10 foot poles and masthead halyards.

When I first got a Wave I ordered the jib kit and spinnaker kit from Hobie. Neither worked.
There was no way to get luff tension on the jib, making it only work on reaches.
The spinnaker was worse.
That was how I ended up developing the Hooter.
Spent a season speed testing the Hooter against son Dave on another Wave. Changed things like pole length, where to put the halyard block, sheeting position, etc.
The standard Hooter is very fast and can be carried upwind, reaches and downwind.
My plans for the Super Hooter are not working yet.

The boat I have came with a factory Hobie spinnaker that the former owner apparently never used. However, the pole is missing. I was hoping to either find a used pole (Dan & Kathy Kulkowski might have one) or build my own. I'm mainly looking for the dimensions since thy were not shown in the Hobie literature I found. I just want to play a little with it since it's free.

You can use almost anything for a pole. Just get some tubing at a hardware store.

Try to find an old Sunfish boom. It is the right size. Just cut it to length.

Thanks Jack,

I was thinking I would try some 3/4 or 1 inch aluminum conduit from an electrical supply.

That will break in a heartbeat! Isn't there something laying in the weeds around the Sandy Hook club site?

A piece of Windsurfer mast works well.
