The NOR for Coconut Grove Sails and Canvas A Cat races, January 13-17, 2014, has been posted here in Catamaran Sailor web site. There will be a division of the fleet into A Cat Classics and A Cats as described in the NOR. Warren Green, 321 773 2391, wggreen08@cfl.rr.com

What makes an A-Cat a Classic? A certain year of production?

yes and they also handicap race the entire fleet using three ratings. THAT is the fleet building move....

How many alu masted A cats do you foresee trekking to Florida? How many strait board A cats....

The key number is how many competitors do you actually race against. I don't see the wisdom or fun factor in two or three small fleets. The aussies solved the problem by racing a single large fleet on handicap for their NAs and trophied divisions as well.

I would think it would be older a-cats with carbon masts and straight, non-canted boards like a Boyer MKIV. I do not know of many aluminum masts out there.
