This goes back an earlier post asking what do you do in the winter months...

I'll be musing about returning to the spin-boat ranks by thinking about adding a spin to my Hobie-20. My 18 still has its metal mast intact, so adding the halyard attachment to it was pretty easy and without worry. The 20 has a comptip, so now I wonder about the best way to attach the spin halyard. Seeing as Hobie sells kits for this boat, there should be a "stock" answer, but I'm willing to listen to any methods for attaching spin halyards to comptips. Any hints/ideas/thoughts out there?

Hi Keith,
I don't know how, but the H18sx, has a hound in the comptip for the spinaker. Someone who speaks Hobie will surely chime in.

I faced a very similar problem when trying to figure out how to do the same thing to a Hobie 16 mast with comptip. I ended up using the foward tang off a Hobie 16 boom which is not used for anything. This has 6 rivet holes and as a result spreads the loads very well. It takes a little bending to get it to fit around the comptip but it is relatively easy to do. This has held up all season
