Hi my name is Tony Jenkins
I started sailing 3 years ago when I bought my Taipan. I had never been so happy and frustrated at the same time. I predominantly sail my boat one up. Some Australians may remember my vocal opposition to the introduction of spinnakers to our class. Back then I was worried about the class being split, but as a novice I was more worried about having to learn how to sail a thoroughbred with even more horse power.
To be honest, as a single handed sailor, I havn't seen anything to change my mind. That is until the Forster regatta back in October. It was there that two pesky mosquitoes blew our single handed fleet away. And it looked all too easy.
So after umming and arring for a couple of months I decided to go ahead and order my spinnaker.
But in the mean time I have been collecting the materials needed to build my self a new boat. A little project I intend to have finished by the end of this season or the start of the next.
Which brings me to the Blade. I was fortunate to be invited to Blade debut. I sailed on it and against it all day. It was there and then, that I decided this is the boat I'm going to build. That process started last Monday. Four sheets of ply are now scarfed and joined to make 2. I will start cutting it out next week.
So now you know a bit about me. I will keep you informed how my project is coming along. Hopefully in less words than this post.

Regards TJ

Welcome to the class Tony.

Those mozzies eh !

On another point : If you could take a pictures of your building proces than I can assure you that there won't be a need for many words.

Good luck and much enjoyment during building.

Hi Tony

Where did you get a ride on a Blade? Is this in Australia or have you been over to Europe?

I got the impression the boat was still being designed so I'm amazed to hear you have already started to build one.

I'm looking forward to hearing updates and seeing the photos.

Hello Tony,(and f16 supporters)

Seems you may have a start on some of us with insight into Blade performance.

Is there now a genuine competitor for the Taipan in the 16' class?

Anyone care to share where Blade plans are available from?

Cheers folks

Rob
