Well where well into it now, after the first day of big winds, which turned in to survival of the fittest, with less than half the fleet finishing, yesterday left us drifting around in the morning. But the afternoon made up for it with excelent conditions peaking around 20 knots, which had most dragging themselves up the shore after the racing finished at 5 o'clock. Enjoying the rest day under a shady tree by the lake is the major activity. today.

Liz and I manned a rescue boat again today, slow delayed start to the day lovely 6 to 12kt race before lunch, fantastic couple of races after lunch which finished in proper wind and 3ft chop. Enjoyed watching it, had to jump in and help right a boat so I can say I was on a Mozzy at the Nationals. A boat put a hole in another one at the wing mark I think, I didn't see it, redress protest tomorrow to be sorted out. Saw a boat run over and break another boats rudder from behind on Wednesday. Heard a bit of discussion that sounded to me like Mozzys are not using the new two boat length rule at marks still working on overlap. Few people have let their sheets off when capsized but the sheet hasn't run through so they can't right I waited untill all the other boats were gone and then told them to let sheet out and they pulled the sheet through, something to check if your boat wont come up pull the sheet through as the sail was full of water and the masts were bending at a fantastic angle. Gary was looking good today and decided to wash his sails but worked his way back through a fair bit of the fleet. The two young girls had a blinder in race one with a win by a fair margin.

Thanks for the update Jeff. I think maybe we'll come next year and sail in the invitation race, then we will be able to say that we have been on a Mossie at the Nationals too.

Are the latest results up yet? I can't find them on SailRes.

If you like wind like I do you would have loved doing this Nationals, I only watched it for 3 days didn't see it today but heard there was plenty of cool southerly wind with punch again. I personally think that the worse sailor you think you are the more you should do the nationals because you learn so much that you are a much better sailor when you go home. When I did the Nacra nationals I was quite happy that I came second last I was expecting last but I win a lot more races now. I don't know why the Mozzy guys aren't posting results or updating this forum might be some action once they get home

What a huge week. Well done to all the winners and place-getters.
Thanks again to all of you who helped me throughout the week. I feel I've learnt a heap and will be the better for the experience. Hope to see you all around the traps before too long.

You're quite right! Mozzys use the three boat length rule ("the zone") as specified in the rule book.
Maybe that's what you meant smile

Well as usual the Mossie Nats where full on eek , busy on cool and off the water (socialising) wink which makes it difficult to post at the event.

Link to full results is on National Mossie website.

For me it was full of great racing grin and winding it up without needing to race the last 2 races certainly took the pressure off allowing for a relaxing end to the series. But the camraderie and socialising make the Nats worth attending on their own, so anybody that missed it frown should make sure they don't next year.

All races that where succesfully completed where sailed in trapezing conditions, so I think it would be fare to describe this last Nats as a windy one. With Tuesday and Friday peaking somewhere around frightening crazy. This caused a lot of DNF's up to half the fleet frown , which was dissapointing as it meant the racing was not great for more than 1/2 the fleet in a few races.

For those at the front it was all fast and furious grin and I enjoyed it alot grin grin of course winning helps whistle. But I would still rather the wind had been lighter and all present had been able to enjoy it more, but I guess thats the way it goes last years Nats where not so windy, so I hope all that found the going tuff, get more time on the water before next Nats and or experience under their belts before next year and get too enjoy it as much as I did. cool

Love the one of "Bee Alert" being a lert grin. Maeve must have been quick to get that photo of Matt in the lead on the reach before he tipped over too cry blush grin grin
But seriously great shot of Mossies reaching, note Daniels style cool (the third mossie with striped sail).
