I'm surprised the foiling one still appears to be using a spinnaker instead of something closer to a code zero.

w/o VAT, but with Spi and self tacker, it is right at $40k.

What is sick is some of the foiling performance data that he sent me!

I think the crazy number was, "full foiling in 7kts of breeze"!!

Didn't the Americas Cup show us that you cannot just simply add foils to an existing design, but design the boat around the foils?

I think I'll stick with the Flying Phantom, foils already proven and design improved upon from the Groupama C-Class. <$50,000 landed, it's cheaper than a J/70.

Both of those boats are totally new designs. I was sent some more detailed drawings (that I won't share b/c they're not mine) that give a better description of the boat and it's hull shape.

I don't have a stake in the any of this, so don't take my defence of it as anything more than, "I'd wait and see before passing judgement". The foils have been going through on the water testing under a modified Nacra 20c since ~April of last year. Out of curiosity though, if I have time, I'll have to put the specs for the two platforms (Phantom and Eagle 20cHF) side by side.

NICE !!!

I'm impressed because That is the wind-speed a Kite-board
on a hydrofoil, needs to get going in ; and it weighs What
in comparison to a cat ? !!!

Now if that thing can reach the low 40Kt range , for speed;
--- "it would B something", for the money !!

it hurts enough now when you scare up flying fish on a spin reach and they pelt you at 20 kts.

I can't imagine what that feels like at 40kts. Maybe something like those Asian carps jumping into speedboats?

OK -- how about 35 K ?
I've fallen at that speed on a water-ski ; it only
hurts for a Day or so, (maybe More, now that i'm 61) ?

Kite boarding ; i'm usually at 20K or Slower.

I see it like, if my $2,000 H-21se, will do 20Kt on a
nice day ; for $35-K i would expect to do near Double
what my, (SE) can do. I don't think i'm being :
"unreasonable" ? For the Money, I'm happy at 20Kt !

What a AC-72 does ; well that's what Wet-Dreams are made of !!

Had a good look at the Flying Phantom today at the German Boatshow but that really is an awesome boat.
Talking to the designer it really seems like it is very easy to sail.
Apparently about a dozen have been sold so far, can't wait to see one in action.

Supposedly there is one coming to Wisconsin. Interested in seeing if I can get a ride on it.
