Posts: 774 Greenville SC | I sold some stuff to a guy who was in the process of building a wooden car. I had thoughts in my head of a go-cart built of 2x4s. So I finally checked out the link, it's actually pretty impressive. Thought you guys might like to see it, I'm not sure that his techniques can be useful to boat building though. http://www.joeharmondesign.com/index.html http://www.flickr.com/photos/66898206@N00/with/3237311454/ He also sails a Hobie 18 in NC. This is by far the best example I've seen.

Posts: 774 Greenville SC | I assume one, when I met the guy the university part of the build was done. He was in process of moving the car to his basement and was re-building and making changes. Sounds like he had crudely got it driving at that point. He bought a 10' sliding glass door from me so he could get it back out of the basement when finished. It's an interesting project, but I don't feel that it proves wood as a practical material for a car. I think that he and everyone else knows that it would be faster, easier, and cheaper to use other materials. | | |
