If you made a sailing/boating wish list of things you would like for Christmas, what would be on the list, from cheap (like duct tape or telltales) to expensive (like F-28)?
If I can compile a list of the most needed or wanted items, I can publish it every year in the magazine; and if you can get your family and friends to read the list, maybe you will avoid getting a necktie.

I know my own wish list would always include ring pins, shackles of varying sizes, shock cord, and odds and ends of rope. One stocking would handle it all.

Like you said Pins, ring dings, and shackles should always be a must. I think that I would like in addition to that a new main and jib sheet lines, McLube, Tel-Tales, and side stay wind indicaters.

2 brand new Marstrom Tornado 2 spare Marstrom masts 1/2 dozen sets of sails. 1 plane trip to Europe for myself and crew. $100,000 and a boss that will let me spend every Australian winter in Europe.
I don't know if I could ever be that nice
PS can you also throw in a C Class and maybe Play Station. With Play Station I could take myself, crew, 1 of the Marstroms and a team of bikini clad cheer girls over to Europe with me.

My fabulous, wonderful, caring wife secretly ordered EuroTrax which were delivered today. Unfortunately, I was home when they arrived and her secret was discovered (but unknown to her). Thrilled at my good fortune in having beach wheels and a cat-favorable wife, I noticed that she had ordered knobby tires instead of the smooth tires I need. How bittersweet!! What can I do???
Since my wife did not know they had arrived, I hid the package and secretly called Playaboule and ordered the right tires that they swear will be here this week. I plan to open the main box, swap out the wrong tires for the right ones, then send back the knobbies and put the "adjusted" package on the porch for her to find as a "timely" delivery (when I'm not home). And just in time for our traditional Christmas Day sail! (See attached photo of her Xmas 2000 present..new crew!)
My wife is the best but sometimes even Santa needs a little help.
Merry Christmas to all as we pray for Whirled Peas.
I would like an F28R.., and almost got one this fall after selling Rick's Place, but I got smart at the last minute and invested the money. Still, I know my dear, sweet and loving wife might just slip one under the tree on Christmas Eve.
Ah Yes, sailing in the SORC, Key West Week, Columbus Day, the series in Lake Erie, etc., etc., etc.
Then again, I know I have not been very good. Rick
Besides not being able to afford it, I don't like big boats, I don't like trimarans, and I don't like large, heavy objects following me down the highway. Rick knows all this.
He also wants an airplane (which he also, fortunately, cannot afford). But he knows that I hate to fly.
Do you think he is trying to tell me something?
By the way, (Rick, are you listening?) my Christmas wish list includes a new Hobie Wave -- or at least a new sail (preferably dacron) for my old Wave, since I am going to be racing this year.
