On the harken Web-page It tell's us about Alex Shafers'Team Tommy Bahamas Inter 20, And the self Tacking Jib on the boat. Has any one done this sort of Rig option to a Hobie14 turbo, If so how, and with what gear. I have absolutely no intrest in being class legal or anything. Also... I'm very interested in using a spi. or hooter type sail on the boat. i've heard of people using a soft windsurfer mast as a spi. boom. trying to keep this as economical as possible too. Baby gurl due any day now. so $$$ is tight, but she's gonna learn how to sail on a Hobie....

Thanks

Ricky

I've heard the self tackers are around $350 or so, but I don't think it would really work for you on a 14. Seems like there would be a clearance issue as well as an angle issue. I'd like to put one on my Prindle, though..

I did install a Hooter on my 14 with a "skinny" windsurfer mast. They are pretty hard to find used and I paid $100 for a slightly damaged one. You can get a simple carbon fiber two piece pole for $150 new. Sabre sails in Florida is selling a used Hooter for a pretty good price. You might want to check with them.

Attached is a pic of my 14 with the Hooter..
