For Hobie events, as long as she has 100% factory original equipment, you should be good. For non hobie events, I've heard that some aftermarket upgrades are encouraged.

There's a pretty active Hobie fleet (297) in the KC / Lawrence area.

And there one in Wichita that's still around, too.

And lastly, Hobie Cat did make a hot-pink Hobie 14, made especially for Cyndi Wood, the 1974 Playboy Playmate of the Year. It might be in rough shape 40 years later. The boat, that is.

Don't know where in Kansas you will be, but Lake Cheney is big and has hosted several nationals. I think there is a good cat fleet there and it is known for being windy.
