Anybody up for a regatta on Lake Superior?? Might have to bring a DN in reserve.

My oldest son (crew for me at Americas) heads off to NMU in Marquette, MI this fall. Says he won't join the sailing team unless I buy him a drysuit. Kids these days - entitlement mentality... Time to man up.

I might be game. Superior is stupid cold water. Even in August.

I'm boatless.

Don't the girls in that picture know they are polar bear "bait"?

They're bait for something, but not polar bears. Pic was from UP of Mich. Not too many bears there yet, but with climate change you never know, they may be migrating to FL :P

There is definitely a polar bear in the picture. When a white polar bear is on white ice, you can only see it's black nose. Look real close, it is there!

The states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan, won't admit they have the occational polar bear, because it would scare away the tourists. But people have mysteriously disappeared on Lake Superior. Polar bears eat everything, leaving no trace.

The polar bear in the Duluth Zoo was captured 18 years ago during the winter at Bayfield, Wisconsin.

I learned in SEER school that the polar bear is the only bear that will hunt and kill a human for food. I don't know how true it is. I was always deployed to warm climates.
