What is best for keeping the boat on windy beach over night?
I need something for Galveston.

The screw-in type are OK, but if you want security . . .

A 4' long 2x6 with a line tied around the middle, buried flat about 3' down. That isn't going anywhere.

Trailer home screw-downs. I have a set that are heavy duty and about 3.5 feet long with a spiral on one end. Once those are in the sand minus 4 inches, they hold great. Other ideas are to dig a trench and bury a 4' long 2x4 that you tied to in the middle. I've also seen 5 gallon buckets buried but I wouldn't trust the handles...drill through opposing lips and tie to those.

My experience is that the trailer anchors can be "vibrated" loose in beach sand. I do use those in dirt conditions. In sand I use a 3-4' long 2x4 with a line tied to the middle buried ~3' deep. Tie the line to trapeze on either side. Be sure you center the mast rotator.

Never had a problem with this setup.

Thanks for the info everyone. Grabbing a 2 x 6 and some line. I'll bring a shovel for the wife to dig the trench with.

Good luck with that. I'd be concerned if the "trench" measures anywhere around 6 feet in length. I saw it on CSI Miami

She's the crew and wants to sail the regatta. She may be looking for a new skipper once we drive there and I rig the boat.
