2015 'Once in a Blue Moon' I-LYA Bay Week Regatta and

North American Wave Championships! July 31st - August 2 Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Bay Week is one of the largest fresh-water events in the United States with boats hailing from all over the Great Lakes, USA and Canada.

Put-in-Bay, South Bass Island - Racing and Cruising Destination!!!

As a resort community, Put-in-Bay has been called the "Key West of the North" and "the Playground for Adults." South Bass Island offers plenty to do for the whole Family....shopping, dining, sightseeing, or choosing from the many types of outdoor recreation. Climb to the top of Perry's Monument where you will gain a Bird's eye view of the Lake Erie Islands and Canada. Landlubbers can tour the island by bike, golf cart or tour train. The adventurous can try parasailing or kayaking. The kids may want to try mining for gems at Perry's Cave or exploring the inside of the World's Largest Geode at Crystal Cave.

For the Adults, there are Wineries, Breweries and the World's Longest Bar with entertainment offered all day and into the night.

Come for the Regatta. Stay for the week! The South Bass Island has accommodations at all price points with 400-500 hotel rooms, B&B's, condos, and cottages. Or enjoy the sunset from your lovely wooded State Park campsite overlooking the lake. We have Camping right where the action is at Put-in-Bay Yacht Club. July 30-Aug 2 -- Hobie Wave North American Championships, (This is a combined IWCA and HCA regatta, all starting and racing together and scored separately). Put-in-Bay, OH, During the I-LYA Bayweek Regatta, PIBYC. "Deb Schaefer" <summer.storm@cros.net>
We are coming from Iowa/MN/SD and hope to bring 5-8 boats. Be awesome if we could get a 30-40 number for this regatta.

Comments by Rick:
Put-in-Bay is one awesome venue -- great fun on the water and tremendous fun on land. There is so much to do.., Perry's Monument, Wineries, Night Clubs with national entertainment, caves, great bars and restaurants, and the NAs are being held in conjunction with the I-LYA Bay Week Regatta, the largest fresh water regatta in the worlds since the mid 1800s. And they have a couple of parties per day.
DON'T MISS THIS REGATTA.
And it is not just for Waves
There will be an open cat class on DPN or if there are 5 boats you can have your own class.
If you would like to take a tour of this beautiful island 5 miles offshore in Lake Erie, just click below

Be sure to head for town and not the lighthouse. Lots to see

Middle Bass Challenge trophy flags are in.

A total of seven flags are up for grabs.

The race is Monday following Bay Week. It is usually about 15 miles, depending on the wind. We have gone around different islands every year.
