Just a heads up. They have a change this year. Going to have one start with Portsmouth corrections after the race.

Are they going to start everyone at 7am? In zero wind?

They're going to need a much bigger line, unless they run rolling 5 minute starts for big Mono's, little Mono's and Cats, like a normal regatta.

Yeah, I was thinking that starting line was going to be pretty busy with 70+ boats of various designs all putzing around.

I did enjoy the pursuit start as I didn't have to get my act together for a start until something like 9:30 am...

It's going to be a lot more lonely at the front this way. ;-)

It's been years since I've raced the Mug race, but it was the way when I did it then. 1st start was all of the multi's and windsurfers, and then 10 mins later everyone else. The start line was probably 3/4 the river width, with a couple hundred boats on the start.

One start all boats at 8:30AM. If the forecast holds it's going to be soft breezes all day and on the nose, the light displacement monohulls do very well in that condition.

At the awards last year the Rudder Club asked the audience if they wanted to go back to the one start format and it looked like it was the leaners that were pushing it.

I prefer the pursuit start, it's nice to sleep in. At least it will be a really nice day, the high for the day is supposed to be 82.

Hat Tip to all who made this year's race.

Results are posted

We actually had some wind at times this year. Start worked out well, in that no one ran into me :-)

It was and upwind slog except for a few minutes at the first turn. Then a little late in the day if you got caught in the back of the fleet.

The RC30 won again, but on corrected time a lot of monohulls won as would be expected for an upwind race.

What was most surprising was a third overall place by a little 22 foot french trimaran.

All in all weather was beautiful. See everyone next year.
Cheers
