At least, for a change, we are discussing an official, documented policy change and not just rumors.
The emails and the existing IHCA rules give us guidelines to follow.
Of course they don't cover every possible situation.
The big issue seems to be the terms "H sanctioned" and "H Regatta".
The lucky ones already have an organization in place, like CRAM, CRAC, Beachcats, etc, to easily deal with the new restrictions.
They can re-word their NOR and be compliant.
But what do the paper fleets do?
Many of them rely on non H-boats and their owners to put on regattas.
Look at the position this put the dealers in.
Dealer support ranges from a few donations to actually sponsoring and running regattas.
Many dealers realize that it is much easier to turn an X-boat sailor into an H-boat sailor, than to get a mono sailor or non-sailor into cats.
What will the dealers do, who sell H-boats and P-boats?
Will H-Corp. penalize dealers for running open boat regattas?
RE: NAMSA
I think that we need to break NAMSA down into regional areas in order to make it more manageable.
This would bring it closer to the sailors and make it easier for them to get involved in NAMSA.
Let's divide the U.S. into Divisions, based upon the Alter Cup map and have Division officers.
Groups of sailors, who are currently operating as a Fleet under other jurisdiction, could apply for designation as a NAMSA Fleet.
They could then operate as a NAMSA Fleet with an H-Fleet within.
The umbrella groups like CRAM & Beachcats, could form an internal NAMSA Fleet.
Eventually there could be Divisional and National NAMSA Champions.
Let's talk.
