Hey,
Slim chance I may contemplate doing this race. However I was wondering how much this race will really cost me. I'm coming from New England so i'll already have a big expense in gas. I'm wondering about hotels and etc. I'd prefer to do it as cheap as possible. Is there camping anywhere?
Also, how hard are the beach landings? Should I expect some serious boat damage?
I'm sailing a Nacra 6.0 with new england spin set up.
Thanks,
Todd

Hey Todd! Not a racer myelf, but I do have a friend who visits the Great Texas Race.

I think that The Great Texas Race is the Intra-American race that will tie the East Coast and the West Coast sailors together. And this is a great thing; A great Texas thing!

This race is growing in fame, and in popularity. I see a time when I will go to the GTR (Penned here as "GTR = The Great Texas Race") as an intranational event where I can meet a bunch of great sailors, who visit this forum!

I hope that these guys have a great time, as always, and that their attendance continues to tie the three coasts of America together to form a truly national representational race.

Have a great Texas time fellows!!

At one point, the guys were parking RV's on the beach and camping there - Texas is pretty loose with it's coast line.

Okay, so load up an RV, hook up the trailer, and get on that Amtrack AUTO TRAIN thingy. That way, you could sleep (or drink) all the way down and back while saving gas.

Campers are welcome, and used, beach houses are available on the last two stops, hotels at every stop. beach landings are fine, about the same as any, the beach leavings can be a little costly if you are not careful. so real cost.... lets see.
new spinnaker, food, gas, hotels, spare parts, repairing everything you have before you come.... what difference does it make this is a great race on a great unspoiled shore you will never miss the money but you can miss doing the race. (ok fine real answer, about several k)
