The Great Texas Catamaran Race is already building momentum for 2008. There are already 17 teams listed as possible or committed.
Rumor has it that there will be one or two small rule changes to make the different classes of boats a little happier for '08.
This has been an F18 dominated event in the last few years and it looks like 08 will be no different. There will be a presentation at the F18 N/A's for those of you interested. And you can go to the GT300 website to see what is going on at www.gt300.com .
If you like some fast spinnaker reaching up a wild and untamed coastline for about 300 miles, then you dont want to miss this one. In 6 years of this race being put on, only 2 boats have dnf'd. All the starts and finishes are LeMans' style just like the Tybee 500. Some of the checkpoints have camping available to save on $$. In fact, I think anyone with a motorhome can sleep at all the stops.

It's a great race. We RV'd the first year of the GT300. Only problem was the RV got ran into one afternoon while it was parked on the beach. Knocked a big hole in it, and took out my ground crew that was inside making us an after race **** (like all stellar ground crews should).

It,s official. The GT300 will have classes now! This has been discussed in the past and now has been voted in. Classes to include, but not limited to: F18 and N20 plus an open class. 5 or more of any other class boat will make a class. Trophies for each class plus the overall winner. PRO for GT 300 is now official. After the success of the F18N/A's in Galveston, we are happy to announce the PRO for the '08 GT300 will be Billy Richnow. Right now Billy is running the A Cat Worlds in Islamorada. It looks like we are just at or over 20 boats on the line. We are hoping to get some more entrants from the East Coast since we are starting to show a good West Coast turnout. Go to GT300.com for info.
