I have the documentation on it at home, but from memory.
4.30 mtr. length (Aus is metric) = little more than 1 inch longer than 14 feet 0.5 * 4.30 width = 2.15 mtr. = 7 ft 2 inch
Same length to width ratio than Tornado, F18, F16. Will make the preformance with respect to these designs constant over the full range of windspeed when the rig is carefully chosen. This make single handicap number racing (dominant in Aus, EU and Asia) possible. No shifts when wind speed changes.
about 7 mtr. = Mast length, at least that was considered most likely but this dependents on the rig used
weight as low as 70 kg's = 155 lbs
We were leaning towards a cat rigged setup with indeed a furling headsail. Not because of the cat-rigged craze, but because the boats can be build lighter and cheaper without a jib. In this setup the boat needs a furling kind of headsail like a hooter to keep the performance around a course up, especiall reaching which requires a very flat headsail.
Mainsail + mast = about 12 sq. mtr. is a likely candidate.
With the numbers given above the F14 would arrive at about the speed of a P16 when double handed by two kids.
The F14 was/is put in the fridge because of limits in spare time and because it was considered too small a market to be succesful and economic viable.
However if you guys get it off the ground ....

Posts: 1,449 | Wouter, I may be able to clarify the Glider Inter14 for you. They are completely different boats by different designers. The Glider is 4.0m and the Inter14 is 4.3metres. The Glider can be configured with main jib and spinnaker while the Inter14 has a bigger main and to my knowledge no jib or spin.

Posts: 591 Bradenton, FL | That Glyder looks like a hot little boat! By any chance is it a design that can be built from plans in wood? Where would be the best place to stretch the hulls .3M? Between the beams, at the bows, or the sterns?
I find it interesting that they stick with ~7' width. Are the roads just wider here in the US, allowing for 8'6" wide boats without the need for a tilt trailer?

Posts: 1,449 | Unfortunately the Glider has to be built from a mould.
You could always buy the hulls and build up the rest. It uses 2x2 industrial grade aluminium for its beams so it is easy to acquire. And a wing mast 6 metres long. Any broken carbon a class masts around. Alternatively a retired aluminium A class mast. You would have to ship the hulls from the Central Coast of NSW (Aus).
As far as the raods go the max allowable towing width is 2.5m. The Glider has a 2 metre beam. It was set up this way so the boat is still exciting to sail. It does not carry a huge sail plan.

Posts: 9,582 North-West Europe | 18 foot with 150 kg crew and 180 kg boat = F18 = overall weight 330 kg
Using your rule :
F14 weight = 0.47 * 330 kg = 155 kg = 80 kg crew (singlehander) + 75 kg boat
Or 70 kg crew + 85 kg boat
Works out quite nicely

Inland_sailor,
I'm well aware of the Taipan 4.3 and AHPC.
As the Formula 16 class chairman (Also Taipan 4.9 spi) I have to.
Thanks for the effort.
