what do you call the wires that support the mast. the ones that run down to the sides of the hulls, i want to find a used set or buy some new but do not know what to ask for. told you it was a stupid question thanks

These are known as shrouds. It wouldn't be prudent to buy these used, as they are subject to a great deal of force, and some people replace theirs every year.

I remember calling it a mainstay, and confusing the hell out of the poor vendor. (Where I come from, Mainstay is a cane spirit, along the lines of Night Train etc too)
