After looking at Hobie 14 tuning guides online I noticed my mast rake angle was far less than what was recommended.
The measurement from the main sail insert on the mast to the weighted down halyard on a level boat was 45".
The guide showed 55" was about right for someone 160 lbs
but this was for a 14 not a 14 Turbo.
Should the mast rake be set to these specs regardless of the jib? I weigh 160 as well.
If so, I will definately need to add a shroud adjuster to the forestay/jib. Any problems doing this?

the goal as i understand it is to have the mainsheet 'block to block' when sheeted in to the max upwind in whatever the wind condition. if you have a 6:1 system and 2.25" blocks then you can achieve max rake, fast upwind where it counts most. if this is your goal then add whatever lengthening hardware necessary, i have a pigtail 3" long made of cable, thimbles, and swages that gets my rig block to block. the turbo settings are very different from the jibless classic tuning. the mast needs to be nearly vertical- less rake- to help the classic style boat tack.

Posted the same question regarding my son's H14T a while back. Bob Curry responded and recommended following the boat level method and rake until the weighted halyard settles 10" in front of the rear cross bar. A front shroud extender is required. Planning to do this same setup with my son in a couple of weeks.

I went ahead and set it up with the forestay extension and tuned the rig accordingly.
Just waiting for the weekend to test it out.
