I'm not sure what you call the slot in the back of the mast that you thread the mainsail through, so I'll call it a mainsail slot for now. There's an area where it's pinching together - perhaps due to the bungees that I use to hold it on to the trailer. As a result, it's getting harder to raise the mainsail. We broke a pulley and a cable today, and that may be related.

Is there a good way to straighten out the slot and make it a uniform size?

Since you think it was caused by bungees, you must be talking about the plastic track on a comp-tip? I don't know what to do about that (maybe heat??).
If you are talking about a pinched area of an aluminum track (which would have to be caused by a severe impact of some sort), I have repaired that. I used two peices of 1/16" x 1" x 6" harden steel and slid them in the narrow part of the track. I then hammered a wedge (screwdriver, etc) in between the metal to expand the opening (The metal spreads out the pressure and keeps the wedges from damaging the track). The mast is made from very tough aluminum, but it does give if you use enough force.
Good luck,
Jack

Hi Jack,

No, it's aluminum. I'll give it a try!
