Thank you so much to all the people who made the OBX-500 possible this year. Charles and John did a huge ammount of work and had a great team supporting them. Five teams did the race, had a great time, and I think all of us would strongly recomend this race to any/ all serious distance racers! The hotels were great, beaches beautiful, and dinner parties always filled with great food/drink. Not to mention the awesome wind provided! Everything was professional and well managed, a sign that this race is only beginning of a great future in the Atlantic1000 catamaran racing! so, from All of us at Team Accelerated Chaos, THANK YOU! By the way, Chris and Nate, your shore crew was great. He was at the beach every afternoon when we landed, whether it was before you or after you, helping Lee get our boat up the beach. Lee couldn't have done it alone and it was great not having to lug that beast up the sand after a day of wrestling the spinnaker. Thanks from Team Chesapeake
That is a great example of one of the things I love about this sport! Every Cat event I've attended has been full of examples of people helping eachother out! YEA Ground Crew!
yeah, our ground crew definately rocked this year. Daryl Moss was our pusher and famous for helping all the teams get their boats up the beach. At 6'3" and in great shape he can really throw a boat out through the surf and into the race! The amazing part was by the time we finished the OBX500 daryl was finishing three weeks of ground crew duty having done the full Tybee500 + boat preperations for Team Mezzo speed. This included many stories that I am sure will continue to be talked about. Yes, he can push and party with the best of them! Rock on Daryl. (check him out still pushing through this wave) Steve, Awesome race and thanks so much for fishing nate out of the water. We owe you guys huge! Brian, any chance you can make it up for the sakonnet challenge this year? Dates are June 12 and 13th and it should be a good event... usually good wind, good sailing, and great parties. If you need more info, drop me an email. Chris www.acceleratedchaos.com
Chris, I'm supposed to go to North Hampton that Saturday to see a nephew, but if that changes I'll be there. John Smith has been trying to get me to go for years now, but somehow that's one I've always missed. "Sail it like it's rented!" Gotta tell you I laughed out loud when I saw that! Brian
