News From Barbados:
Shortly after the Race Around Barbados, Jan 2004, Bizzy Williams, owner of RC30 Tiami Silver Bullett, sold the boat to Robert Foley. Robert, a monohull sailor from Barbados. Mr. Foley was very impressed with the speed the RC 30 demonstrated in the Around Barbados Race which the RC30 won boat for boat and on corrected time. Immediately after purchasing the RC30, Mr. Foley and his crew began practicing and learned how to make the boat go fast in a short period of time.
After about six weeks of serious practice, including a turnover, Robert decided to take the boat 100 miles south to a race around the island of Granada.
Soon after Robert arrived in Granada, many of the local sailors began telling him that he should not race. "The seas are too rough", they said.
"Sometimes they get up to 15 feet high on the NE side", they told him. Well, Robert didn't let a few wild rhumors stop him from sailing in the race. The RC30 was the smallest boat in the race. Robert sailed the race and won the race by a wide margin. At the trophy presentation he was accused of bringing an airplane to a sailboat race. Mr. Foley plans to continue to race the 30 and to take it to St Martin Race Week next year.
