The Second race in the Trident Series, the Great Bay Race , will be held this Saturday in Fort Walton Beach,Florida. This Saturday only event will be hosted by the CMA SAiling Association at the Fort Walton Yacht Club. This event has a 26 year history of providing an excellent venue in the beautiful Choctawhatchee Bay with steady southwest sea breeze filling in for what is usually double trap conditions. The event this year will repeat the highly acclaimed and successful format from last year.....which will be a steeple chase format .The race will consist of a 25 to 30 mile route around the Bay with the start and finish at the Fort Walton Yacht Club. All entries will be given a laminated chart of the race cours with GPS cooridinates as well as compass headings for all marks... so locals will have no advantage !After the racing is over enjoy a cookout at the Yacht Club Gazebo on the point with complimentary beer, beverages and a great cookout. The race will start and finish off the point at the Yacht Club and there is plenty of grassy areas as well as a sandy beach to launch on.....those arriving early have the best choices. Registration is set for 8:30 until 10am with Skipper Meeting at 10am and the first gun at 10:55 am. Expected finish time is late afternoon so there is plenty of time to de-rig, have a hot shower , and enjoy the cookout and awards presentation. The entry fee is $30 and will include a commerative regatta shirt, the delicious cookout, awards and trophies, and free beverages. The full Yacht Club facilities are available to all racers and guests and this looks to be a great day of traditional fun on the Bay. Participate in two of the Trident Series regattas and qualify for a set of Sabre Sails for your beachcat to be given away as a door prize at the final regatta.

what marks you MIGHT use? If I can, I'd like to program them in as waypoints before I get there on Saturday. Just the number (58) or short description (Bluewater Bay Sailing Club Buoy G) would do it for me.
Thanks, Mike - can't wait to see y'all.

After watching Lionel Messi play, I realize I need to sail harder.
Will....great job with the chart and yes you are right thats the one we used last year and was "loved" by everyone so much its back by popular demand!!!! Except you left out the Okaloosa Island #2 red can to port on the way out . Its right before #61. Otherwise nice job. Need to save that for next year. We will have laminated charts for all including pics of every mark....hootie hoo! And free passes to Sammies 'apres sailing ! See you Saturday !
1. Start at red nun #2 2. Green light #61 3. Boggy Bayou green light #1 4. Green light #59 5. Green can #55 6. Green light #49 7. Ft. Walton YC Race Bouy C 8. Back to Red nun #2 to finish
37.8 miles, a couple miles farther than White or Wheat was. Big boats finished in a little over three hours, I finished in just over four. That was with 6-10 knots or so of breeze. Gonna be another long one!
