Hi I am looking at purchasing a late 80's Nacra 5.7. Just wondering on how this boat is for fun-sailing and occasionally racing. I have 15+ years of sailing experience(Laser, Melges 24, Melges 30, Swan 57, etc. etc.) but not a lot of catamaran experience besides taking out the occasional Prindle 18 locally. I live in San Diego (half a block from Mission Bay). Thanks for any help you can provide!!!

Great boat. Fast and fun. My wife singlehands one no problem. High freeboard and boomless main. We don't race so can't help you there. Jump all over it.

Regards,
Mike

actually should be a great boat with the amount of sailing experience you have, no daggers will make for easy trapeze learning without having to think about running into stuff. This boat is a great design, you will have to get used to tacking, it feels alot differnt than monohulls, especially with asymetrical hulls. But yeah, fast fun boat.

the 5.7 has symetrical hulls but has a skeg. It should tack pretty well.
