Things are coming along very nicely.
We definitely have a lock on prices at $90 per night for a room and you can put as many as 4 people in them.

However, next week Club Med will be making us an offer I am sure we will not want to refuse. No matter where we stay, we will still be sailing out of Club Med.

We now have discounted air fares through American Airlines.
Here is the info on traveling:
We arranged with American Airlines discounted Group Rates. Below are the discounts:
Coach 5%.., And If purchased 30 days of more before the flight 10%
1st Class 10%.., And If purchased 30 days of more before the flight 15%
And included are discounts with Avis Rental Cars
You can be on any flight between Oct 5 thru 14 to take advantage of these discounts,
To Book a flight:
Call 800-433-1790 between 5AM-Midnight (Central Time)And tell them the Group Authorization No is: S86H4AU

The local dealer has ordered 20 new Calvert sails, rudder kits, mainsheets, etc.., so all of the boats will be in about the same shape. That way we can have as many as 40 teams and do a round robin until the last day.

We plan an early registration Friday morn, then we will be racing from Friday morning to Monday afternoon.
Following is a tentative schedule: Friday we provide lunch and dinner of local cuisine w/band. Saturday lunch
and tentatively a dinner party hosted by the Governor. Sunday lunch and a Sunset Cruise w/bottomless rum
punch and nibbles. Monday lunch and a presentation dinner.
We will be sailing on Grace Bay, on Provo's north shore. It is beautiful with 10 miles of beach and great water.
Winds are usually SE 10-15mph and seas flat.
Dress is casual, and “formal” is considered clean deck shoes, khakis or nice shorts and a collared shirt.
Of the 40 slots, 5 will be reserved for the host country sailors
Passports are preferred, but proof of birth and a picture ID will suffice.

As I have said, we are saving 5 of the 40 slots for world/foreign competitors (probably be made up of the folks from the Turks and Caicos) and the rest will be first come, first served.
Mary and I have already signed up, so we now have 33 places left.
In the next issue there is a full page ad and an registration page.

Meanwhile, Here the Registration Page is also located at:
Wave Worlds Registration

You will also note that we are finally asking for membership dues of $20. Thus far it has been myself, the Kulkoskis and Cottinghams that have financed all the doings of the class.., but it is time to stop that and let all contribute a little bit. We don't have much in the way of expenses, but we have some.

Any questions, just let me have them/
Rick

Hi Rick -

Exciting news! I noticed in the Bylaws that there is reference to a class membership application - something separate from the application for the Wave Worlds. Perhaps if you get a form up, the folks in the class who won't be going to Worlds will join the class as well. Make sure you include a blank on there for racing numbers (Bylaws Rule 14).

Thanks for continuing to keep us updated on developments!

If you'd like, I can put it together - I know you're busy. E-mail me any class insignia you want on there and I'll build a draft form for your review.

Thanks, John, but I already did it.
Check it out on the welcome page there is a link.
Also, I need to change the template to have a place in the masthead to join. Duh! Wonder why I never thought of that at the time.
If I am missing anything in the app. let me know, OK?

Rick,

In our last communication, you said that you were looking at the Columbus Day weekend for this event. In your flight info, you say that the discounts are honored for flights between Oct 5 and Oct 14. Does this mean that the regatta will be the weekend after the 14th? Specifically from Oct 15-18?

The $90/night option is the Comfort Inn? Also, since all regatta activities will be hosted out of Club Med, will there be any issues about us getting Zach onto the property to race?

Thanks for the update,
Sam Grant

The regatta is Oct 8-11, Friday through Monday. The dates for flying are 5th (Tuesday) through 14th (Thursday) which allows you to arrive early and leave late (have a bit of vacation at the same time). And I would like to do that, frankly.
Hope that explains it better.

Now that we know we will definitely be doing a Round Robin event, I don't know how to set it up.
Any chance you have the key to setting up such a format? And could you share that with me?
Thanks,
RIck

Thanks Rick!

Those dates look great. Of course, we would be a bit crazy to fly down to paradise and back for a whilrlwind tour. We are planning on staying longer for the vacation time...

Anything we can do to help, let us know!

Rick,

Please forgive my ignorance, but when we go to look for flights, where will we be flying in to? It seems that there are a few airports in the T&C's to choose from. Looks like the two big ones are GDT and PLS...

I am new to sailing and thought what I would like to sailing in a Worlds. I contacted a friend who has been sailing forever and some offical in US Sailing. He told me some organisation owned the rights to host all sailing world event. Also if I attended an non sanctioned event I would be banned from sailing from all US Sailing clubs and events. Is this true are you guys running something you can't. Can I get banned from cometiting at my own club if I attend?

They are referring to ISAF Sanctioning. I don't think they own the name.

No.
The only event they could ban you from is the Olympics or Olympic Trials, or a US Sailing Championship. Any other regattas are not controlled by US Sailing.

Rick,

How will Zach be racing? If there are no other Juniors, he still wants to race against the adults. If this is the case, is there a minimum weight for him? Hobie says that the min crew weight is 120 but IWCA does not address this issue...

What about weight limits for the upcoming regatta in PCB?

IWCA has no weight limits, either upper or lower. He is free to sail as fast as he wants.
